BMW 530e iPerformance

The new 5-series from BMW has been expanded to include a new model. The plug-in hybrid BMW 530e iPerformance is intended as a sporty sedan to combine the driving dynamics typical of the brand with an emission-free driving style. The consumption of the hybrid sedan is 1,9 liters per 100 km in the EU cycle, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 44 g / km. The BMW owes the (stated) economical consumption above all to its electric range: the 50e should be able to drive around 530 km with zero emissions.

The top speed of the electric motor is an impressive 140 km / h: speeds at which you can practically see how the electric range is shrinking. The 83 kW (113 PS) of the electric motor and the 135 kW (184 PS) of the combustion engine together result in a system output of 185 kW (252 PS). With this, and with a maximum torque of 420 Nm, the BMW 350e iPerformance accelerates from standstill to 100 km / h in 6,2 seconds.
The arrangement of the electric motor in front of the standard 8-speed gearbox means that there is no need for a converter, since the gear ratios are also used with a purely electric drive.

Small details such as blue intermediate kidney bars in the vehicle grille, blue wheel hub covers or the “eDrive” emblems on the side of the C-pillars identify the 530e as part of the BMW iPerformance model series. The interior of the hybrid sedan reflects the sporty character of the exterior design. And the elegantly designed cockpit has a large number of easily accessible controls. The driver can set the driving mode using the eDrive button. Here, among other things, there are options for purely electric driving or setting the charge level of the battery.

Wireless charging from 2018

The lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 9,2 kWh is positioned below the rear bench to save space and thus allows a trunk volume of at least 410 liters. The charging time at a normal household socket is around 5 hours; The battery is fully charged in 3 hours on the manufacturer's own wallbox. BMW has developed its own predictive charging service for its i products. You can choose whether the electricity for charging the vehicle battery should be taken from the home photovoltaic system or from the power grid. Wireless charging for charging the battery will also be available to BMW i customers from 2018: the vehicle only needs to be driven over a charging plate and, thanks to induction, the car charges the vehicle battery without any cables.

The BMW 530e iPerformance is available from a price of 53.600 euros.
