The focus of the future of the Volkswagen Group is clearly on electromobility. Since the aftermath of the VW emissions scandal in 2015, the apparently manipulated exhaust gas values have led to a worldwide loss of confidence in the use of fossil fuels.
In the annual balance sheet from the Federal Motor Transport Authority for the registration year 2018, the demand for hybrid and electric cars has increased further. With 36.062 registered electric vehicles, the pure electric vehicles already account for 1,0 percent of all new registrations. At 62,4 percent, the share of gasoline-powered cars was above the previous year's level (57,7%); the share of diesel-powered cars was 32,3 percent in the annual balance sheet (previous year: 38,8%). The Arona, presented to the general public for the first time at this year's IAA, is the latest model from the Spanish car manufacturer. The little brother of the SEAT Ateca thus joins the family of SUV models, but can also score points with cross-over properties such as sportiness and efficiency. As an entry-level engine, SEAT offers the Arona with a three-cylinder 1.0 TSI with 95 hp (70 kW) and a 5-speed manual transmission. Fiat will stick with internal combustion engines in 2017 as well. As an option, the manufacturer relies on the natural gas variant in the simple Panda small car as an energy-saving concept. Driven by a two-cylinder with 875 cm3 displacement, the engine is more like a motorcycle. Here, however, with an empty weight of 1.155 kg plus the driver, completely different masses have to be moved and completely different prices have to be paid.
