The Evetta is manufactured by VDL Nedcar in the Netherlands

Update - A long legal dispute had long delayed the market launch of the Isetta clone Karo in the past. After the settlement of the legal disputes, the project slumbered in the drawers of the engineers. The manufacturer Artega was stumped by legal disputes and announced restructuring. Now the decisive turn has occurred: The inventors of the XBUS from Electric Brands have taken over Artega and are planning to restart in autumn 2022.

The company is currently building the production lines in Göttingen. 250 jobs are to be created in the region. In the first year, 30.000 vehicles are to roll off the assembly line. The market launch is announced for early 2023. The specialists from the X-Bus company from Electric Brands continue to consistently pursue the original development of the e-city car with its own charm of the fifties.

The turning point for speed limits in inner cities has long since dawned and with the decision to combustion ban within the EU, the knobbly retro car hits the spirit of the times. The company Electric Brands has just introduced the XBUS, a good and flexible light vehicle with high variability and a simple concept. Space-saving wheel motors with a legally compliant maximum continuous output of 15 kW (20 hp) are used for propulsion.

The Evetta meets the zeitgeist

The total torque of 1.000 Nm and peak power of 56 kW (76 hp) provide sufficient power reserves. "I am sure that the customers will also have fun with this," is the official statement by Ralf Haller, founder of Electric Brands AG. Even the compact XBUS, which weighs just 600 kg and is 3,96 m long and 1,64 wide, can be used very flexibly in the city area. With a top speed of up to 100 km/h, consumption should be between 5 and 10 kWh per 100 km.

The second model, the retro Evetta, will be delivered in 2023, according to Electric Brands. With the takeover of the financially troubled car manufacturer Artega, the microcar developed under the name Karo is being hoisted into the future with a revised concept. The Isetta served as a model with the striking exit through the front door. The city runabout should be able to travel at a maximum speed of 90 km/h and be able to cover up to 200 kilometers to the nearest charging station. With the modular production, it should be offered at an attractive price.
