The live blog for the 2019 International Motor Show

This year the IAA stands for many premieres in the field of electromobility. This year, Volkswagen is planning a big hit in terms of contemporary electric cars. The presentation of the VW.ID3 by Vokwagen will probably place the future on electric cars at the core brand. The complete conversion of motor vehicles to electric cars is expected to be completed by 2030. There are also ambitious goals for expanding the charging infrastructure in Europe. We continuously report on exciting developments.

ZF is expanding its range in the electromobility sector with a two-speed drive solution.

ZF promises 5% more range and 10% better acceleration with the same battery. To increase the efficiency of the electric axle drive system, ZF developed an electric machine with a maximum output of 140 kilowatts. According to the manufacturer, vehicles with the new two-speed drive should have a lower energy requirement, which in turn should lead to an increase in range of up to five percent compared to a single-stage unit.

The base price, which is lower than its predecessor, is EUR 21.975 (minus all subsidies: EUR 17.595). In addition, there is a particularly attractive offer to start pre-sales: From September 18 to October 31, 2019, the e-up! can be leased without a special payment for just 159 euros a month. Range up: The range increases to up to 260 km thanks to a new battery system. With 40 kW DC charging power (DC = direct current), only 60 minutes are enough to recharge the batteries to 80 percent. This means that the new e-up is currently far ahead of the competition in terms of range and price / performance ratio in the small car segment.
