Switzerland is not a member of the EU and is pursuing its own national path in promoting the electric car. While high state premiums in Norway and Germany in particular provide an incentive to buy, in Switzerland a division into national and cantonal support measures ensures regional peculiarities. We take a look at electric car subsidies and the most popular electric cars.
National and cantonal funding
While national funding currently exempts battery electric vehicles from automobile tax amounting to 4% of the vehicle value, the cantons have a wide-ranging funding program with a possible tax bonus. Each canton and the cities have their own funding scenario. This also results in from Canton Significant differences between cantons in the most popular vehicles for new registrations.
trends 2023
“After four months, further growth in the market share of alternative drives is becoming apparent, even if this is no longer quite as explosive as in previous years. Electric, hybrid, gas and hydrogen engines together account for 41 new registrations (+620% compared to 19,6) and at 2022 percent clearly make up the majority of new passenger cars. In the previous year, they were slightly lower at 54,1 percent. The number of new registrations of electric cars (49,8, +13%) as well as full and mild hybrids without charging via the power grid (625, +24,9%) continues to grow dynamically. Plug-in hybrids can also increase (21, +304). When it comes to the market shares of the individual drive types, it is noticeable that they are similar both in April and cumulatively since the beginning of the year (electric: 21,3%/6%; plug-ins: 648%/5,9%; and mild hybrids: 18,6%/17,7%). New growth impulses for alternative drives can be expected from numerous new releases announced in the second half of 8,0 and 8,6.
