NIO SUV ES6 - world premiere in Shanghai

The NIO-Day took place in the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center on December 15, 2018. The world premiere of the ES6, the next vehicle model from NIO, was also celebrated. That evening, NIO presented the ES6 to the public for the first time. With a high-strength hybrid construction made of aluminum and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (KFK), the electric SUV offers an acceleration of 0-100 km / h in 4,7 seconds, a range of over 510 km under optimized NEDC conditions and a braking distance of 33,9, 100 meters of 0-6 km. According to the manufacturer, the ESXNUMX extends the design language of the NIO product line with an elegant and sporty exterior and a classy high-tech interior.

The ES6 is currently offered in standard and performance versions at a base price of 358.000 yuan (45.850 €) and 398.000 yuan (50.970 €), respectively. It is custom-made to order. Buyers can now pre-order the ES6 via the NOK APP, but deliveries will start in June 2019 at the earliest.

Battery upgrade for the first production model ES8

By December 15, NIO delivered 9726 vehicles of the first ES8 series model. On NIO Day, the company announced that the ES8 could be upgraded to the latest 84 kWh battery system. ES8 owners are expected to be able to benefit from the battery upgrades from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

The company also announced the price of the new six-seater variant of the NIO ES8, which starts at 456.000 yuan (€ 58.400). Online pre-orders should be able to be placed from December 24, 2018. Delivery is expected for the end of March 2019.

Innovations also in the sales strategy

26 NIO Houses, which are not only showrooms but also experience centers for NIO customers, will be opened in China by the end of 2018. In 2019 it should then be a total of 70.

In addition to the battery change stations along the G4 Expressway, which crosses China from north to south, NIO says it will build even more stations along certain expressways in 2019 to meet customer needs. In the areas of maintenance and repair, NIO has already started to provide a network of service centers across China. By the end of 2018, NIO will set up a nationwide supply network with over 160 service points. This number is expected to rise to over 2019 in 300, further improving NIO's offering.

Technical details

A highlight of the digital NOK cockpit in the ES6 is NOMI, an interactive artificial intelligence that can be used to control many vehicle functions using voice. An improved head-up display (HUD), a digital instrument cluster and an 11,3-inch multi-touch screen provide the driver with all relevant information. NOMI has been given a larger vocabulary and language skills have been further improved.

The ES6 has the pre-installed NIO pilot hardware, including a Mobileye EyeQ4 chip and 23 driver safety sensors. NIO Pilot supports over 20 assistance functions that cover typical road scenarios. Certain functions can be updated using firmware over the air (FOTA).

An intelligent scent system offers four different scents for a more pleasant driving experience for the occupants. This optional system interacts with the other systems in the vehicle to automatically recognize different driver profiles and moods.
