Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo – large-scale driving fun

Porsche has expanded the established Taycan series in recent years to include two large-format station wagons. The Cross Turismo and the Sport Turismo appeal to additional target groups who want more space in the back seat. The test will involve driving the Cross Turismo, which is loaded with off-road accessories for rougher use on light off-road and gravel roads.

From our previous test drives with the Porsche Taycan, we already got to know the sporty characteristics. The Cross variant offers a significantly greater feeling of space in the rear and a generous volume in the trunk. According to its name, the Cross Turismo is therefore ideal for long-distance journeys with sufficient luggage or leisure equipment. There is also planking for outdoor trips.

Price and performance

Given the base price of a good 114.000 euros, the question is whether you really drive this noble vehicle primarily off-road. Porsche drivers are more likely to find themselves on well-paved motorways and country roads. If you would like to order a few useful extras, you can take a look at the extensive list of accessories and special equipment. Important technical details such as the heat pump should definitely be ordered additionally.

Porsche uses a centrally networked control system for the chassis of the Taycan. The integrated chassis control Porsche 4D Chassis Control analyzes and synchronizes all suspension systems in real time. The Taycan 4S comes as standard with adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology including electronic suspension control PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management).

It's also great fun to use your performance capabilities in everyday life at short notice; a moment of momentum is enough to turn a corn chopper over on the right on the country road. In general, the quick overtaking maneuvers are a normal condition for the Taycan; the heavy sports vehicle feels light and powerful.

Consumption in the cold autumn in the true north fluctuated between 23 and 26 kWh during our test drives. This means that a range of around 350 kilometers can realistically be achieved before the next charging stop. We used various providers of superchargers and achieved a maximum charging power of up to 170 kW for all charging stations. This allows the Taycan to be charged quickly and the next turn could start after three quarters of an hour at the latest.

Sporty performance characteristics are of course also the focus of the Cross Turismo. With the large battery pack for the 4 S version, a total weight of a good 2,3 tons can be moved with passengers. With an electric motor on the front and rear axles, the system output is 490 hp. The performance can be increased to up to 571 hp via launch control. This means you can easily sprint from 4,1 to 0 km/h in just over 100 seconds. This makes more sense on the quarter mile or open routes.

The interior reflects a sober, sporty atmosphere. The focus is on reducing to essential operating elements and high functionality. The controls are intuitive and a somewhat small infotainment monitor puts the driving experience back in focus.

The more spacious trunk and variable interior design now allow for more flexibility and even more possible uses for all hobby and leisure activities compared to the “normal” sports car.

The Taycan Cross Tourismo is versatile in use coupled with high agility in everyday use. This expands the practical application possibilities thanks to the large storage space for many sports and holiday utensils. With a wide range of special accessories and a wide range of equipment variants, the Taycan can be configured to suit your own taste.
