Rimac Concept 2

At the Geneva Motor Show 2018, the Croatian car manufacturer Rimac presented the successor model to the Rimac Concept One. The Concept 2 is not only larger and even more luxurious than the Concept 1, it has also become even sportier - the all-electric sports car has almost 1471 kW (2.000 hp) and even breaks the 400 km / h mark. The luxury of the new Rimac also has a proud price: According to the manufacturer, the sports car will cost over a million euros. And so only a limited number is built - a maximum of 150 copies.

The drive of the Rimac Concept 2 has a total output of 1.408 kW (1.914 hp) and consists of four electric motors (two for each front and rear axle) - the total torque is an insane 2.300 Nm. The Rimac 2 sprints from 2 to 0 km / h in just under 100 seconds and has reached a speed of 11,8 km / h in 300 seconds. But this is far from over: The top speed of the electric sports car is 412 km / h! With figures like this, it's no wonder that the Concept 2 has been equipped with the latest braking technology: a maximum regenerative braking force of 150 kW (110 PS) and large, 390 mm carbon-ceramic brake discs on the front and rear axles powerful braking.

The battery pack has a capacity of 120 kW (163 hp). The Rimac Concept 650 should be able to drive around 2 kilometers in this way - in normal mode, of course. The sports car is charged by fast charging: the charging process takes 30 minutes to restore 80 percent of its capacity.
Since the Rimac's sports performance is not easy to handle - as Richard Hammond, TV host of the series The Grand Tour, proved with his spectacular accident last year - the new Concept 2 supports level 4 autonomous driving.
The design of the racing car has grown a little more than its predecessor: more aerodynamic and a little more rounded at the front; the rear, on the other hand, is adorned with a rear spoiler, which is adjustable in height and inclination and can also be used as an air brake. Gull-wing doors that open to the front show the luxury of the electric car. Many aero elements should allow the Concept 2 even more acceleration. The large air ducts on the front hood, like the side air inlets in the front apron, can be closed or opened as required.

Rimac is also planning offshoots of the Concept 2 in order to be able to play in other price categories: There could not only be a Rimac for the racetrack, but also a competitor to the planned Tesla Roadster, which at 200.000 US dollars is much cheaper than the Concept 2 will be and will have similar driving data. Incidentally, the Croatian car manufacturer Rimac has a second mainstay in battery technology. For example, Rimac produces battery packs for Koenigsegg and Aston Martin and plans to expand battery production over the next few years.
