Discounters stop free charging stations

In recent years, discounters have attracted drivers of electric vehicles to their stores with free charging options. The basic idea was to offer these customers a lucrative way to charge their electric car while they were shopping. This should increase the reputation of the discounters in the competition.

The new funding guidelines for private charging stations allow homeowners, landlords, apartment owners' associations and tenants to receive a subsidy for privately used charging stations from the KfW loan institute. Now it is also clearly regulated for which models there is a subsidy from the state.

Ionity is a consortium that was founded by BMW, Daimler, Ford and the Volkswagen Group. The aim of the consortium is to expand the charging structure with around 400 fast charging stations along the main traffic arteries in Europe. It should stand up to Tesla's Supercharger network.
