The younger brother of the large-format EQS is slightly smaller at second glance, but offers a few technical highlights and conjures up a full entertainment package at night. The new smart #1 product line is available in four models, all of which know how to impress. Together with ABB E-Mobility, the company offers AC wall boxes to secure public and private charging stations. smart #1 drivers use their own app to find an available charging station near them.

Smart EQ will be produced in China from 2022 - update

The Smart EQ is heading towards a new future. On January 8th, Mercedes-Benz AG (Mercedes-Benz) and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely Holding) announced the formal establishment of the global joint venture smart Automobile Co., Ltd. known for the smart brand after receiving regulatory approvals. With the new joint venture, the Smart starts with a modified appearance, including a new production site in China.

When it was launched in September 2018, the push button for electrifying the car fleet was pressed at Mercedes-Benz. After the very cautious developments in the B-Class, a competitive SUV for the medium-haul range was the focus of the electric future. With the Mercedes-Benz EQC, the developers modified the GLC platform by installing two electric motors on the front and rear axles and a battery in the underbody. The design is more modern, but takes on the typical presence character of the GL models.

Mercedes-Benz Vans is expanding its electric product portfolio

The entry into the emission-free future at Mercedes-Benz Vans started on the last mile in the transport segment with the eVito in 2018 and the eSprinter 2019 with purely electric drives. Now follows the newly introduced eVito Tourer for passenger transport. The concept is envisaged as an emission-free vehicle for ride-sharing services as a shuttle service vehicle or as a large-capacity taxi. We were able to gather our first personal impressions at a press presentation by Mercedes-Benz Vans in Berlin.

Mercedes Benz has been defining its electrified car models using the abbreviation "EQ" since 2016 and promoting the new concept with the slogan "Electric Intelligence". Over the next few years, the premieres of the BEV models will be in the foreground of the concept models presented. The plug-in hybrids already have a permanent place in the Mercedes product portfolio. From the A to the S class, there are versions with petrol and diesel engines. The test reveals the character traits of the new A-Class with two drives.
