The year 2021 will be a reason to celebrate for the Jeep brand. The new year is marked by the 80th anniversary, and there will be some innovations in the vehicle range. Since Jeep produced the first 1941 × 4 vehicle Willys MB in 4, the brand has stood for all-wheel drive vehicles. In the past 8 decades, emphasis was placed on off-road capability and all-wheel drive. In the meantime, however, some changes are planned for a successful future.
According to its own information, Jeep achieved a sales record for new registrations in Germany in 2018. Apart from the all-terrain vehicle Jeep Wrangler, the newly released SUV vehicles in particular have gained a larger group of enthusiasts in recent years. At the same time, the new, more compact generation of motors meets the spirit of the times for more economical and WLTP-compliant drive components.
Jeep has been involved with the Renegade in the increasingly popular SUV class since 2014. The concept is a mixture of the ingredients of the traditional SUV paired with an off-road capability from the traditional Jeep Wrangler. The dimensions are suitable for both urban and off-road use. For the new year, Jeep has given the Renegade a significant update and promises a plug-in hybrid for the coming year. While Jeep started with large-volume 3- or 4-liter units in the past, the focus in the future will be on downsizing in the engine segment and, in the near future, probably on electrification.
