New Volvo XC60 - Copyrigtht Volvo

Volvo XC60 T8 Twin Engine AWD

The Volvo XC60 has been available in Germany since July. In addition to a diesel engine and two petrol engines, the engine range also includes the top model: the T8 TwinEngine AWD - a powerful plug-in hybrid drive. Volvo will introduce plug-in hybrid technology across the entire model range and, following the XC60, will also be equipping the S90 and V90 models with the efficient drive.

The electric motor of the XC60 has an output of 65 kW (87 PS), together with the 235 kW (320 PS) petrol engine with turbo and compressor charging, the plug-in hybrid has a system output of 300 kW (407 PS). This strong performance catapults the 2.174 kilogram SUV from start to 5,3 km / h in 100 seconds.
The top speed is only reached at 230 km / h; the Volvo drives at a top speed of 125 km / h electrically. All engines of the XC60 are offered exclusively with all-wheel drive and 8-speed Geartronic transmission.

The 10,4 kWh lithium-ion battery is integrated in the center tunnel and allows a purely electric range of 45 km. At a normal household socket (230 V), the charging time is around 6 hours with a current of 7 A; with a current of 16 A, the battery is charged within 3 hours.
The consumption of the XC60 T8 TwinEngine in the NEDC cycle is a combined 2,1 liters of super and 17,8 kWh per 100 km. With a CO2 consumption value of 49 g / km, the plug-in hybrid is in efficiency class A + and meets the EURO 6b pollutant classification. The driver can also choose between 3 different driving modes: in pure mode, the plug-in hybrid drives purely electrically, in standard hybrid mode the vehicle decides for itself which drive source is most suitable, and in power mode the maximum output of the XC60 T8 TwinEngine available.

The design of the new XC60 is elegant as usual; an elongated bonnet and distinctive flanks give the Volvo a powerful appearance. The LED front headlights with the distinctive name "Thors Hammer" are drawn in a distinctive line up to the front grille frame and, with the high beam assistant, offer an optimal view even when there is oncoming traffic.

The interior is designed to be homely. Well thought-out architecture - combined with exclusive materials and modern technology - offers the usual Scandinavian atmosphere that many drivers appreciate about Volvo. A new four-zone automatic air conditioning not only supplies the interior with fresh air, but also filters out harmful pollutants and particles.
The infotainment system, which is equipped with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, has a minimum of switches and buttons and is largely limited to the touch screen. The extensive safety equipment of the XC60 is intended to support the driver in critical situations and further reduce the risk of accidents.
The Volvo XC60 T8 TwinEngine AWD has been available since July 15 for a price starting at € 69.270.
